The adapter is required for the Radion XR30 G5 to be installed in conjunction with older RMS arms for XR30 models.
Older RMS Arms for the Radion G1 - G4 can be recognized by the fact that the addition G5 is missing.--
With the release of the new G5 Radions came the need for a new RMS X-Bracket. Since G5 Radions have a top-mounted fan, they are incompatible with the previous style X-Bracket. Using the older style X-Brackets on G5 Radions could prevent proper cooling. That said, the new X-Bracket is backward compatible and can be used on all previous generations of the Radion.
