Sulfur Pearls consist of pure sulfur. In sulfur-nitrate filters, they are used as a substrate and energy source for the bacteria. They are broken down by the bacteria and must be replenished regularly.
Caution: Use only in slow-running anaerobic filters for nitrate reduction. The pH value and carbonate hardness of the water must be checked regularly. We recommend installing a filter container with hydrocarbonate downstream of the sulfur filter to neutralize the acid produced.
