The HydroWizard® is an impeller pump for the most efficient movement of large quantities of water. The exact calculation of all components in the flow simulation has resulted in a pump which is unrivaled in the field of efficiency. The combination of the mechanical components (impeller / rotor, stator, inlet nozzle and suction basket) and the electric drive are so precisely coordinated with each other that 160,000 liters of water per hour are transported with only 658 watts of power The characteristics of the engine and impeller are exactly matched.
The selection of the materials has resulted in a maximum service life. The double bearing made of SiC ceramic ensures a perfect guidance of the rotor over the entire service life. All parts that absorb mechanical forces are made of carbon-fiber-reinforced composite plastic. The carbon fiber serves, on the one hand, to reduce the weight on the rotating parts of the shaft and the impeller, and on the other hand to the improved thermal conductivity of the housing parts. The only necessary metal parts that come into contact with the water are the screws for closing the housing and fixing the impeller. Both varieties are made of titanium. The choice of material ensures an absolutely safe corrosion resistance even against synthetic seawater.
The motor itself, as well as the silicon carbide bearings, are not sealed against the water, but are deliberately flowed through. This prevents the deposition of mineral particles by precipitation on and in the bearings.
The combination of impeller and stator creates a directed, non-rotating flow with a maximum velocity of 3.3 m / s. As a result, a controlled pass-through capability is ensured in the direct outflow area of ??the pump, so that a risk of injury can be largely excluded.
The suction basket has an area four times as large as the discharge opening, so that even smaller and weaker fish are not sucked in, or can easily escape this flow, of only 0.9 m / s.
The motor is an electronically commutated DC motor with an operating voltage of 48 V, so that even in the event of a total failure of all insulation systems, no dangerous voltages can be present in the water.
The control allows the simulation of various flows. For example, waves can be generated by short impulses, slow flow changes can simulate ebb and flood or even longer intervals can simulate seasons with high and low water. Of course, a continuous flow can also be generated. Automatic cleaning functions are integrated into the program sequence. Thus, the impeller stops briefly after 1 hour in continuous operation, then slowly reverses a few turns slowly and then returns to its original value. In wave simulations, every fiftyth wave is performed backwards.
The HydroWizard® has been developed for use in show aquariums, aquacultures and ponds.
