ATI® ICP Element Iodine
High-purity solution to increase the single element iodine in the reef aquarium. Ideally suited to compensate for element deficiencies and for daily element supply.
Dosing instructions:
- 1ml per 100 liters increases the iodine content by 10μg/l
- Increase by a maximum of 20μg/l iodine (2ml/100l) per day
- The bottle contains 1,000,000μg iodine
Symptoms if the iodine content is too low
- Weaker tissue in Xenia and Zoanthus
- Increased susceptibility of corals to bacterial infections and parasites.
- Iodine is involved in color formation (especially blue, purple) - deficiency leads to a washed-out appearance
- Poorer moulting in shrimps and crabs: iodine is required for the synthesis of the moulting hormone ecdysteroid, a deficiency leads to moulting problems or death
- Metabolic problems in fish, as iodine is needed in the thyroid gland
Causes of low iodine content
- Biological consumption by corals, macroalgae and microfauna: Highly illuminated tanks with many inhabitants consume iodine quickly
- No targeted compensation through supply system
- Removal by skimming, activated carbon, ozone and UV: iodine is easily removed as a volatile trace element - regular balancing necessary
