Cobalt is a trace element found in low concentrations in the oceans, varying from 0.002μg/L in the north central Pacific to 0.39μg/L in the Indian Ocean.
Cobalt is an integral component of vitamin B12 and plays a fundamental role in DNA and cellular processes and is a nutrient for macroalgae. It has been suggested that cobalt may be a limiting factor for bioavailability in the oceans and thus an important trace element for the life of our animals.
It is important to check cobalt levels through ICP analysis and ensure adequate levels and stability by administering a cobalt supplement when needed.
Cobalt Zlement, used in conjunction with a regular testing procedure, allows any aquarist to correct cobalt levels and ensure that the level in the aquarium water remains within the optimum range for their friends.
1ml of Cobalt Zlement will increase the cobalt concentration of 100 litres by 2 μg/l.
