ReefZlements Nitro+
Nitrate is extremely important for the nutrition of microfauna and corals. When present in sufficient quantities, it promotes "biological filtration" and improved coral colouration and health.
For bacteria and other microscopic organisms to assimilate carbon and phosphorus, nitrogen is required in sufficient quantities.
With the increasing efficiency of filtration systems, low and very low nutrient aquariums are becoming more common. These systems are often low in nitrogen. When a system is low in nutrients, it means that "biological filtration" is not running as efficiently as it should, and nutrients such as PO4 are likely to rise and become pollutants unless other forms of filtration are used.
NitroPlus supports the growth and reproduction of micro-organisms and improves biological filtration by allowing microscopic plankton and bacteria to consume carbon and phosphate. These bacteria can then be removed via mechanical filtration or used as food by other organisms in our aquariums, such as sponges, corals, mussels, tunicates, etc.
NitroPlus is a natural source of NO3 that can be added to the aquarium in a controlled way to achieve ideal NO3 levels. We recommend using NitroPlus if your nitrate level is below 5 ppm.
Before dosing NitroPlus, we recommend using reliable and accurate nitrate test kits to determine the nitrate level in the aquarium.
10ml of NitroPlus will increase the NO3 level in 100l of aquarium water by ~1ppm.
Once nitrate levels are determined, we recommend increasing only 1-2ppm NO3 per day by dosing the required amount and waiting 24 hours to test NO3 levels. This process should be repeated until the desired NO3 levels are achieved.
