Healthy aquarium/healthy pond with near-natural conditions.
The correct water values in the aquarium/pond depend on the fish stocking and the plants present. Even if the water looks clear it can be polluted. With poor values, diseases or algae can form in the aquarium/pond. For a healthy aquarium/pond with near-natural conditions, regular control and adjustment of the water values is important.
For each water analysis JBL offers water tests in the form of quick tests or color change tests. These determine a specific value or several values simultaneously. With these water tests, algae problems can be detected and negative nitrate, nitrite, potassium, magnesium values, etc. can be determined.
Why test?
Copper is a heavy metal, which on the one hand is indispensable as a trace element for plant and animal organisms, and on the other hand has a devastating effect as a cell poison in excessive concentrations. Copper usually enters aquariums through heavy metals in tap water or metal bodies in the water, and ponds through gutters containing copper. Copper can be bound by good water conditioners. Copper can be targeted to control fish diseases.
Recommended copper levels:
Copper should generally NOT be measurable in aquariums and ponds.
For invertebrates in fresh and marine water, any copper content that can already be measured has a lethal effect!
Only for drugs containing copper, the therapeutic dose is 0.3 mg/l, which should be adjusted and checked with the Cu Test.
