In 1989 TUNZE® Aquarientechnik GmbH was the first manufacturer to develop a CO2-controlled lime reactor. The water enriched with carbon dioxide flows through the hardness granulate by means of a circulation pump. The carbon dioxide reacts with water to carbonic acid and dissolves the calcium carbonate, the cured water leaves the reactor. The Comline® Calcium Automat 3170 for aquariums from 150 to 500 liters has been developed especially for indoor use in the aquarium (most units are only designed for cabinet filters), but can also be placed in a low water level cabinet filter.
The Calcium Automat 3171 is suitable for under cabinet systems and aquariums up to 1,200 liters with a granulate capacity of 1.85 liters.
The Calcium Automat 3172 for under-cabinet systems and aquariums up to 2,000 liters, depending on the coral, contains a granulate capacity of 10 liters and a particularly high efficiency
All models are self-priming, which considerably simplifies commissioning. The water throughput is adjusted before the granules and thus remains very constant over time. . All devices contain a re-absorption of the undissolved gases and consume very little CO2 for this efficiency. The models 3171 and 3172 use a wide opening cover and contain a special connection for an internal pH probe (optional at 3170).
